Our roleStakeholder engagement, training and workshop facilitation in Spanish

The need

Health authorities across the Americas must keep hospitals and health services running through heatwaves, floods and storms while cutting emissions, and must meet the needs of the populations most exposed. Health Canada and PAHO wanted new networks among health authority partners to build climate-resilient, low-carbon health systems.

What we did

We assessed engagement needs with the client team, then moderated a two-day online workshop in Spanish and English for executives of health authorities and global non-profit and multinational health organisations, managing the international political dynamics between participants. Sessions centred on inclusive, participatory ways to build climate-resilient and low-carbon health systems.

Deliverables

A two-day workshop for health sector decision-makers on 16 and 17 October 2023, delivered in Spanish and English.

FAQ

Questions about climate adaptation and resilience

What is climate resilience?

Climate resilience is the ability of people, businesses and systems to anticipate, absorb and recover from climate shocks and stresses, and to adapt as the climate changes.

What is adaptation finance?

Adaptation finance funds measures that reduce vulnerability to climate change impacts, such as resilient infrastructure, climate-smart agriculture and early warning systems. LirioAI develops adaptation frameworks and resilience indicators that funders accept and borrowers can report against.

What is the difference between climate change adaptation and mitigation?

Climate change mitigation reduces greenhouse gas emissions, while climate change adaptation reduces the harm from climate impacts that are already happening or expected. Most climate finance programmes need both, and our experts have 14 years of experience in climate change adaptation and climate change mitigation.
